Our Craft
A workshop in Jaipur,
printing since 1991
Shivalaya began with a single printing table and a family of block printers. Three decades on, we still carve our own blocks, mix our own colours and cut and sew under one roof — supplying boutiques, designers and fashion houses across the world with hand block-print cotton.

“love the print and design. My only comment is the tie threads through a pocket at the top so you really need take it out to wash the skirt and then have to thread it back through so that design could be improved along with adding buttons or snaps to the opening at the tip that gaps. I am going to sew snaps into that space.”

Frequently asked questions
- Shivalaya is a hand block-print textile manufacturer in Jaipur, India, established in 1991. We make block-print cotton fabric and clothing — including dresses, kaftans and nightwear for women, men and children — printed by hand with carved wooden blocks and cut and sewn in our own Jaipur unit.
- Yes. We supply boutiques, designers and fashion brands worldwide with wholesale and bulk orders, and we take on custom designs and garment production from our Jaipur unit. Contact us with your requirement for a quote.
- We make to order: production takes about 7 to 10 working days (longer for larger quantities), then we ship worldwide from Jaipur by DHL Express, which usually delivers in about 5 to 8 working days.
- You can file a return within 14 days of receiving your order, for items that are complete and unused in their original packaging. For hygiene reasons, some items with a broken seal cannot be returned.
- Hand wash separately in cold water for the first wash, as a little excess colour may rinse out, then machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Line dry in shade and warm-iron on the reverse.
- Because each piece is stamped by hand, one block at a time, small variations in print placement and colour are part of the craft — no two pieces are identical.
